AUTHENTIC NUBIAN CUISINE

Rooted in Tradition / Served with Love

The Netherlands' first and only Sudanese restaurant: where ancient Nubian culinary traditions meet heartfelt hospitality in every dish.

Step through our doors and be transported to the banks of the Nile. At Napata, we serve the rich, soulful flavours of Nubian Sudan; recipes passed down through generations, prepared with love and served with the warmth of family. Our cuisine carries the story of one of Africa's most remarkable ancient civilizations, brought to life on your plate.

Ranya and Abdelrahman built Napata from a dream and a deep longing for home. In our kitchen, cherished family recipes become dishes that guests travel across the country to experience. Each plate carries the essence of home: slow-cooked stews fragrant with cardamom and coriander, fresh-baked kisra bread, and cool hibiscus karkade that has refreshed travellers along the Nile for millennia.

We are a hidden gem in the heart of Utrecht. We are a celebration of culture and resilience. We are a place where every meal feels lovingly home-cooked and every guest becomes family. With stellar ratings and a growing reputation that draws food lovers from across the Netherlands, our table has found its place among the rich culinary traditions already flourishing here. Join us for live music on Friday evenings, cultural gatherings, or simply a meal among friends.
